HRMS or HRIS? Many a times, the terms are used interchangeably and synonymously. So what should it be called actually? Functionally speaking, an HRIS (Human Resource Information System), is really a type of HRMS. There isn’t much real difference in the offering of both type of systems. There was a time, when people considered an HRMS to be a more complete automated solution to HR management. Other type of software labeled as HRIS or even HCM (human capital management), came close second.
